Thank you to all who helped serve this Thanksgiving season! Amazing things happened because of your gifts of service and friendship.
The Teen Challenge Thanksgiving Service started off with God providing plenty of food through the St. Andrew’s Congregation, and plenty of helpers to load the food into the van. Lexi Larison organized the volunteers serving the food at Teen Challenge and Malia Griffice organized the volunteers working with the children. Teen Challenge staff were amazing hosts and led the adults in a Spirit filled worship service. As the sermon was coming to a close, Laura Johnson was used by God to bring a woman to a saving faith in Jesus Christ. Praise be to God for calling us unto Himself, and praise be to God for making St. Andrew’s & Teen Challenge into one community.
The Post-Thanksgiving Worship Service at Village of Hope was another big success. Jeff Herdman and his Life Group coordinated the gathering of the food, the transporting of the food, and the serving of the food. Roughly 200 people were fed at the event! Janet McAnlis coordinated the watching of 53 children and they learned about Jesus healing the hurting. Donna Naccacia from the Village of Hope needs to be thanked, for without her the event never would have happened. Jason Griffice did the opening prayer, Kristel Miles led the worship band, Emily Schilling read the Scripture, and Laura Johnson preached on “True Discipleship”. It was a powerful and moving event filled with thanksgiving and praise as St. Andrew’s members joined together with residents of Teen Challenge, Heritage House, and Village of Hope.
Here are some quotes from the two events that give us snapshots of how God moved:
“We experienced more joy and gratitude this Thanksgiving because you gave us the opportunity to step outside our comfort zone and experience more of God’s unlimited life in Christ.”
“We have always wanted to serve on Thanksgiving but never got around to it. This Thanksgiving has been the most meaningful one we can remember.”
“My kids were scared to come and now are shocked at how many things they have in common with the kids here. I love seeing them have fun serving—really all they are doing is making new friends.”
“What an amazing day! We are so blessed to have been part of Teen Challenge’s Thanksgiving outreach. I hope we brought half the joy to our new friends as it brought to us!!”
A mom from Village of Hope: “Wow, there really are a lot of you who care about us.”
Thank you all for playing a part in God being praised through these two events.
